The expertise and image of the various university departments and institutes play an important part in shaping the Canton of Berne’s role as a centre of research and learning. It is for this reason that BEDA works closely with the University of Berne, establishing contacts with small and medium-sized companies and imparting know-how to companies wishing to locate here. The key areas of research include, amongst others, the medical field, and the environment and sustainable development. The cluster organisations in the Canton of Bern also benefit from this cooperation with the university.
