Numerous companies are acting in the design field in the Canton of Berne. For example Lantal Textiles, Ruckstuhl, Girsberger, Kathleen Madden and Création Baumann. Many other bernese enterprises such as watch manufacturers are engaging in questions of design.

The Canton of Berne accommodates the Design Center in Langenthal. Its goal is to encourage design awareness and design competence in companies with adequate / applicable offers such as further education, public relations, conventions and exhibitions. These offers include the Design Preis Schweiz (Swiss Design Prize) and Designer’s Saturday.

On the occasion of the trade fair „Wohnraum“ the Berner Design Award (Bernese Design Award) is taking place in the Canton of Berne. Further organizations such as the Office for Culture of the Canton of Berne, the Berner Stiftung für angewandte Kunst und Gestaltung (Bernese Foundation for Applied Arts) and the Federal Office of Culture support designers with various sponsorship offers.

The Swiss Design Transfer provides companies, which have experienced little encounters with design, with support and services mostly free of charge. Those include design consultation, design check, intermediation, networking, participation at innovation projects and events.
